Dr. Patrick Barry, DVM: Owner of Barry Veterinary Hospital since 1987
Dr. Barry grew up in south Louisiana and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from LSU in 1978 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He chose veterinary medicine because he liked animals, had a strong love for science, and enjoyed working with people. What a great way to combine all three.
Dr. Barry moved to Florida and opened his veterinary practice in 1987. He and his wife have three sons, one in high school and two in graduate school. The family also has two dogs, one yellow lab "Cate" and one small pound puppy "Mia". Dr. Barry's interests include fishing, aquariums, and live music.
Dr. Barry is most proud of his ability to establish and maintain a busy small animal veterinary hospital while balancing a wonderful and healthy family life.
Dr. Jami Swift, DVM
Dr. Swift did her undergraduate studies at Auburn University and attended Veterinary School at LSU (she likes Tigers). She started work at Barry Veterinary Hospital within a few weeks of obtaining her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from LSU in 2002. She chose veterinary medicine because of the stimulating day to day challenges and of course, her love for animals.
Dr. Swift and her husband are the proud parents of two beautiful human children, a dog named Roux who is a couch potato and an avid Mardi Gras Parade attendee, and a flock of backyard chickens. Dr. Swift and her family enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible.
Dr. Stacey Wiggins, DVM
Dr. Wiggins grew up in Houston, Texas in a large family with several animals from deer to dogs to cows. It was her goal even as a little girl to someday become a veterinarian. She received her Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University and has a huge love for the Aggies. While at Texas A&M she met her Aggie husband who commissioned into the United States Air Force taking them to Ohio. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University. After her graduation, her husband was reassigned to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and they moved to the Destin area where Dr. Wiggins accepted an associate position at Barry Veterinary Hospital in 2009. She and her husband fell in love with the Destin area and this clinic, so they decided to make this their permanent home.
Dr. Wiggins and her husband enjoy spending as much time outdoors and at the beach as possible. They are the proud parents of two children, Jacob and Rebecca Joy. They also have 2 dogs Wesley and Mojo, and 2 cats Nermal and Chief (all rescues). They are very active with their church and enjoy spending time with the many friends they have made since moving to the area.
